Town Planning

National legislation concerning Town and Country Planning goes back to the Town and Country Planning Act of 1947. Since that time, further modifying Acts, Regulations and Orders have proliferated, so that today, the area is one of some complexity.

Whilst many people see what is now generally termed ‘Town Planning’ as an essentially restrictive measure, it is also pro-active and encouraging of certain types of development, where that is seen as being in the economy’s, society’s, or the environment’s best interests.

Nigel Carter & Co., as a firm of Chartered Town Planners, offers the following services in the Town Planning field:-

  • Advice on the need for, or the likelihood of obtaining Planning permission for development, or change of use

  • Planning appraisals of individual sites, buildings, or estates

  • The making of Planning applications for proposed developments, or changes of use

  • Providing evidence to Town Planning appeals, either in written form (appeals by Written Representations), or in person at appeal Hearings, or Enquiries.
