He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1968 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1988. Having been awarded a Post-graduate Diploma from the then Polytechnic of Central London, he qualified as a Chartered Town Planner in 1973. He also holds accreditation in survey and valuation work from the Surveyors & Valuers' Accreditation body, SAVA, is a member of the Independent Surveyors' Association and a Full Member of the Association for Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners.
