He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1968 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1988. Having been awarded a Post-graduate Diploma from the then Polytechnic of Central London, he qualified as a Chartered Town Planner in 1973. He is a member of the Independent Surveyors' and Valuers Association and a Full Member of the Association for Leasehold Enfranchisement Practitioners.
